The Wedding and Event Institute was founded with one goal in mind, to provide professional training and certification for wedding planners, event planners, event designers and wedding stylists. Our mission is to raise the quality in education of those entering the industry and to give them a solid grounding not only in weddings and events, but also in how to run a successful business in today's world.
About Us
WEI is part of an international group, Wedding and Events Training Pty Ltd, with campuses in the UK, Australia and New Zealand which gives our certification so much meaning as it is recognized internationally. The group was founded in 2004 by, Kylie Carlson, and was born out of a desire to provide the industry with a formal education program that would give students the chance to develop their skills via experiential learning. Planning or designing a wedding is very different from launching and running a business and takes two different sets of skills, both equally as important as the other. For many people the planning and designing comes quite naturally and it is the business side of things that leaves them a little hazy. This is where WEI excels. All our course materials combine the knowledge and real-to-life training required to be a successful planner or designer with the fundamentals and basics of running a successful business.
The WEI Course Curriculum has been developed over several years with the help of many industry experts. Each course has been tailored for each country so it is relevant and refers to the laws, rules & regulations of that particular region. Each year our courses are upgraded to reflect new trends and ideas, as well as to update content that might be out of date. This is so important in an industry which is forever changing and bringing in new concepts.
WEI are leaders in E Learning Training for the Wedding and Event industry. In this day and age the paper-based course is considered to be a bit of a dinosaur. Most students need stimulation to help keep them motivated and this can only be achieved providing an interactive environment which is achieved using a combination of audio, video and printed format. It is also much easier to keep the material up to date, as the update is instant. Once you have received a printed packet you can’t receive updates easily.
WEI are active members of both LERN and the United States Distance Learning Association ensuring that the highest standards are achieved in course quality. We also regularly attend many industry events here in America (click here to read more) to continue expansion of our existing knowledgebase and to be inspired by the new and upcoming trends. Brainstorming and networking with industry peers @ the Event Planners Association and WIPA also helps to fill in the gaps as we are members of both.
Add to this a comprehensive suite of planning and design tools, business templates and industry instructors all available to help and support both during and after your course has been completed, and you have a winning formula.
