WEI offers education via ELearning in an interactive format that includes the use of video, podcasts, visuals and written course material. The beauty of this format is that it can be studied at a time and place which suits the student.
You don’t have to attend physical classes and you don’t have to leave the comfort of your own home. This works well for those that live in an area that is a little more remote, for those who have no form of transport or for those who simply don’t have the time to go to class at the same time and place each week. In short our courses are extremely flexible.
So does this mean that you miss out by not attending a face to face class? The short answer to this question is NO. Unlike many other distance and ELearning institutions WEI has recognized the need for interaction between students and we have a two part solution.
The first part of this solution are our Instructors. When you become a student with WEI you are allocated your own Instructor who will be there to hold your hand as you make your way through the course. Your Instructor is available to help you with your assignments, give you support and guidance and to help you stay motivated. In short they are with you every step of the way.
The second part of our solution is our Social Center. This is our online virtual campus. From the moment you become a student @ WEI you will be given a login to the Social Center. It is here that you can build your online student profile and interact with other students training with WEI. Our students come together from across the world within the Social Center and distance becomes irrelevant. Students can chat to other students studying the same course in Australia, New Zealand, the UK or in other parts of America.
Each student belongs to an online Group for their chosen course which allows them to talk to their Instructors and other students in the Course Forums, see course specific images posted by Instructors, blog links posted to help with their study, group discussions on assignments and any other news that pertains to their course. It is no different to attending a face to face class, but with a greater degree of flexibility.
They can create their own profile that is searchable by other students, potential employers and members of the Event Planners Association. It is here that they can upload their resume so it is ready to use in the Career Center. It is up to the individual student how much or how little information they wish to share within their profile. On top of this students can link to their profile on Facebook, Linked in, Twitter, You Tube, Google and many other social media apps.
Another handy part of the Social Center is the Online Chat option. This allows the student to see which of their contacts is online, so they can chat to them in the same way as they would on Facebook.
Each student also has the ability to create a personal student blog where they can write posts about their study, work experience, life in general, business or anything else they wish to blog about. This is a great tool for showcasing their experience and abilities to other students and potential employers. And apart from anything else is good practice for when it is time to launch their own blog.
Another great area in the Social Center is the Library. This is where WEI shares its entire knowledge bank. Here students can go through 100s of PDF articles written about many different industry topics including marketing, social media, business, advertising, design, weddings, corporate events and many other subjects. There is also a huge selection of inspirational and motivational podcasts and videos from some of the best experts within our industry. The staff and Instructors @ WEI also highlight many industry blogs for students to follow within this area too.
As part of each Student Profile is a File Manager. This area allows the student to upload any type of file they want to associate with their study. It is a great tool when studying on the go, as it means any documents they have created are all available for them no matter what computer they are using. All they need is access to the internet via a PC, MAC, Android, iPhone or iPad and all their files will be available for them to use.
